Jake's 5/14 Power Rankings
« on: May 15, 2012, 12:47:44 PM »
1. Los Angeles Dodgers (40-8) - Best hitting group in the majors, Howe doesn't have a pitcher over 400 pts. though
2. Texas Rangers (41-7) - Roy is beating the system with zero RP's and nine SP's. C A.J. Ellis a stellar catching option.
3. Philadelphia Phillies (37-11) - Lee/Lohse/Hamels/Halladay/Whorley the best rotation in the majors
4. St. Louis Cardinals (36-12) - A deep rotation leads Paul's team.  Infante/Willingham providing good offense.
5. Boston Red Sox (39-8) - A deep rotation and Jeter keeping the Sox in the lead, however they have had an easy schedule thus far.
6. Atlanta Braves (32-16) - A well rounded team both offensively and pitching-wise.  Really don't see them outside of top 8 rest of season.
7. Cincinnati Reds (35-13) - A team that wins with it's stars.  Hamilton/Ortiz/Cain must produce every week to get the W's in the NL Central.
8. Cleveland Indians (35-13) - Votto and Jason Kipnis (2000+ pts. combined) keep Chad in the AL Central lead
9. Kansas City Royals (31-17) - Freddy's team is putting up solid points, even with his OF (Boesch, Upton, Maybin) all having slow starts
10. New York Yankees (27-21) - Star power keeps Daniel in the top 10.  Morse/Crawford/Weeks on the shelf still, along with V-Mart.
11. Chicago White Sox (31-17) - Three SP's with over 400 pts. thus far, very productive offense.
12. Washington Nationals (29-19) - Melky/Ellis/Campana bring a 7-1 record last week.  Howard/Jennings currently on shelf.  Still winning with role players.
12. Houston Astros (22-26) - Ahead of most middling teams, as they have a good overall lineup and have over 51000+ pts., 6000 more than Pittsburgh.
14. Pittsburgh Pirates (26-22) - Ethier/Swisher (1500+ pts. combined) keeping Colby afloat in the NL Central)
15. Colorado Rockies (20-28) - Much like Yankees, star power boosts rank. Jay Bruce leading offense.
16. Minnesota Twins (23-25) - A very deep offense helping Mark stay in the AL Central.
17. Oakland Athletics  (21-27) - Rob's young team is going through some offensive struggles (Rasmus, Smoak underperforming, Ramos recently hurt).
18. Tampa Bay Rays (23-25) - Joyce, Posey, Lawrie still covering for Longoria's injury.  Has had a tough schedule thus far.
19. New York Mets (20-28) - Furcal/Beltran best free agent acquisitions in majors, Prince should heat up soon
20. Seattle Mariners (26-22) - Not producing points as well as top teams, but playing in a very weak bottom division
21. Milwaukee Brewers (17-31) - Hosmer/Pujols/J. Weeks three of biggest busts so far this season.  Should turn it around sometime.
22. San Francisco Giants (18-30) - Ernesto's offense is consistent, and Lincecum/Vogelsong/Bumgardner is a great trio for a rotation.
23. Toronto Blue Jays (18-30) - Solid pitching marred by a weak offense.  Is Josh Reddick a flash in the pan, or legitimate OF?
24. Chicago Cubs (15-33) - Darvish, Strasburg, Trout, Lahair (1000 pts. this season) really good core group.  Tough division to play in.
25. Detroit Tigers (16-32) - Ianetta injury really hurts early chances to stay alive in the division.  Verlander/Dempster a great SP combo.
26. Miami Marlins (15-33) - Ross Detwiler a great story so far.  Ryan Sweeney also being productive.  Very hard division to play in.
27. Arizona Diamondbacks (11-37) - A solid pitching rotation with a surprising Joe Blanton is nice.  Raburn, Goldschmidt have been disappointing thus far.
28. San Diego Padres (11-37) - Nick Hundley has really struggled, Gerardo Parra contributing well.
29. Los Angeles Angels (6-42) - A full lineup, just with many below average players. Seth Smith and John Jaso are bright spots so far.
30. Baltimore Orioles (1-47) - Zambrano/A. Cabrera stars on a team of minor leaguers.  Ellsbury a potential trade candidate?

  • Daddy: If i have 10 top level AA prospects each in the top 10 of the franchise vs one middle of the road pitcher like Cal Quantrill (or pick a guy) which one of those two packages are more valuable?
  • Daddy: If you think its the AA guys send me a pm.
  • Daddy: Also... Ive got a nice private island full of beautiful women to sell you. Pay me upfront and i will send you its coordinates. We call it the Virgin Daddy Islands. $5k reserves it for your future.
  • dbreer23: Take two to tango, though. Most owners with adequate or surplus SP aren't interested in prospects as they're trying to win now.
  • Daddy: Agreed. But most does not equal all.
  • Braves155: My issue in LIVE currently is having Strider/Alcantara/Giolito all on the long shelf, so I am more retooling than rebuilding
    Today at 02:46:48 PM
  • Daddy: Also agreed. Top quality pitching probably means not much depth. A few injuries can challenge you. Pitching other than top end pitching has been devalued in fantasy. Everyone wants the stud.
  • Braves155: But I myself could use some time on a nudie island with some hot women
    Today at 02:49:45 PM
  • Daddy: I here to tell you that ALL major league pitching is good pitching. A great hitter beats a terrible pitcher just 3 out of 10 times. Which means the worst pitchers > the greatest hitters.
