Title: Ruined team needs a new owner
Post by: Corey on January 30, 2013, 02:00:30 PM
:WAS: needs a new owner.

What just happened to this franchise should not have been allowed to happen. A new owner should have been given as soon as the Nats didnt make moves. Now the team is a wreck and has no owner or money.

The search should begin ASAP.

Are you referring to the runaway winner of last year's GM of the Year award?  I believe you voted for him as well.

yes Roy I voted for him for GM of the year. However he is no longer active and the team needed an owner as you can tell by the state of the current roster. Last years voting for GM of the year has nothing to do with activity for this Season.

I will say this... Jake knew he was going all in last season then he would probably have to knock it all down. He has 2 million to work with so being active in Free Agency probably is not a concern. He does have a few commodities but if he keeps them he could maybe have a .500 or slightly below .500 ball club.

Formerly when it had come to senior members the commish would reach out to them and get a yes or no if they were staying or going. There have been times in the past when the current Brewers GM had been gone for lengthy periods of time. I think there is a certain amount of leeway that senior members have earned, especially someone of Jake's stature. He has a potentially full line up and 5 starting pitchers so it isn't like the team is not competitive or in total dire straits as the Angels were.

I would vote to keep Jake on until we hear a definitive answer as there is very little spending his team can do. And as stated above he has a full starting roster albeit a thin one, and he was the GM of the year in 2012 so I have some faith that he does have a plan, or is just dealing with a very busy time at home. Plus the league just would seem right without Jake's participation.
