Title: Rules Question

I was wondering what happens if I bid on a FA to whom I am paying money on a previous contract this year. The player was not dropped by me, but by another player. I know that if he had been dropped by me I would have to restore the previous contract and that the money paid disappears. I am curious as to know if the money I am paying would count towards the new contract.

Any word on this? Rulebook does not mention anything about it
