Title: North Star State and Montreal Complete Deal
Post by: Godzilla on July 01, 2019, 03:41:53 PM
Minnesota bound
G - J-F Berube (SDP 2018: 2009 4/95 - 34 Games)
Nicolas Deslauriers, $0.7m (2017-2019)  -- Needs an extension

Exit to Montreal
C - Josh Norris (2017: 1/19 - 0 Games)
RW - Nicholas Caamano (SDP 2019: 2016 5/146 - 0 Games)
D - Sebastian Aho (2017: 5/139 - 0 Games)

I feel we had to pay up to get J.F.Berube back into the fold. His buyout contract is on our books and we will have to address that soon. Steep price but he's a goalie that can contribute games so it was the price demanded of us and we are paying to get it done. Montreal to confirm.

Habs agree :iatp:
We got our price for a decent goalie prospect that'll chip in some games at the NHL level this year especially with Brian Elliott as Carter Hart's backup you know Berube's getting a callup several times during the season when Brian lands on the IR. The kids we're getting in return will help down the line. Good talks Godzilla! :toast:

Makes sense for both sides. I always had hoped that Berube would pan out, but you never can tell with goalies. Either way, was stated, Elliott is pretty much glass.

Minnesota comes out ahead here in my humble opinion. Anytime a team can clear cap to the tune of over $3 Million that's a big benefit to be gained. Prospects do not always develop and Montreal is gaining potential while giving up two players with NHL experience. Berube's story has yet to be written and could be the 2019-20 version of Jordan Binnington. For what it is worth, bravo Minnesota for making the high risk move to control your team's cap destiny.
