New Jersey sending
Chad Johnson, $4.8m (2016-2019)
Jake Allen, $5.6m (2015-2019)
Carolina sending
Cory Schneider, $9.1m (2015-2020)
G - Samuel Montembeault (2015: 3/77 - 0 Games)
RW - Tage Thompson (2016: 1/26 - 0 Games)
Carolina management to confirm
NJ is getting a franchise goalie in his prime with the full three year dynasty window remaining and probably more. Montembault we view as an ideal spec goalie who should hit the league with a young experienced team in front of him and projects well. Not elite but good enough for the girls in NJ. We get tage for Johnson and we can take our savings to the FA market...

Carolina Agrees
Allen probably has just as many questions as Schneider at this point with the former being a head case and the latter playing hurt this spring(hip surgery last April may miss training camp) and eventually getting benched down the stretch. Both will be in a battle to prove that they are number 1 material as Husso is very close in the Blues system and Kinkaid was lights out up until the playoffs last spring. Montembeau is supposedly Luongo's heir apparent but is probably at least two years away. Who knows what he will be. Thompson probably will end up as 2nd line scorer down the line.
I feel like I'm giving up more than I probably should but I like the idea of having the STL tandem for this year. Chad Johnson was awful last year so I'm hoping with an improved D in front of him he will fare better this year.
Plus I hate Corey Scheider after he went AWOL on me last spring so good riddance.

:iatp: Cory needs a good bounce back season to balance this out. Allen is still a great goalie on a team that loaded up on talent this summer.

2 goalies that underperformed here last year for various reasons. It will be interesting to see if Carolina gambles on extending Allen. It's a high stakes gamble for sure. Its pretty safe to expect both to be better than 17-18. :iatp:

:iatp: For now this is a balanced trade with both teams benefitting from the deal.
