Title: Nashville/New York Trade
Post by: SlackJack on November 02, 2012, 12:01:12 PM
Hashed this out with Jesse a few days ago but wasn't sure if we should post it. Figured I'd put it up post-dated to Monday pending approval.

Chris Mason, $1.1m (2012-13)
Jamie McBain, $0.9m (2013-14)
Sebastian Collberg, N/C (0 games)

Jonathan Blum, $2.0m (2013-14)
Joesph Morrow, N/C (0 games)
*Chris Pronger, $4.9m (2013-14)
5th Round Pick

Morrow has a bright future and could be on the Pens 2nd Unit PP as early as this season. Blum could be a steal if he ends up paired with Weber. McBain isn't panning out as projected and is low on the depth chart after Pitkanen, Corvo, and Faulk.

Nice working with you Jesse. Welcome back.

I agree to this trade all I really wanted was morrow, got Blum as a nice secondary piece. I hate to lose mcbain but I am confident blum and morrow will make up any lose by mcbain. The rebuild is on in NY. Everyone is free to go.

Perfect, only risk taken is with Pronger as if he retires it could be trouble.

Pronger's contract is guaranteed for the duration so I don't see him giving up on a $5m annual paycheque.

Quote
If Pronger was to retire, the team would have to take a salary-cap hit for the remainder of the salary. However, if he does not retire, the Flyers can put him on the long-term injury list and get cushion from the annual salary hit of $4.91 million. So, don't expect Pronger to retire.

That said, I'm happy to be free of the uncertainty.
