Important - Read before making a waiver claim

If you place a claim on a player, you are potentially on the hook for his ENTIRE contract.  For example, if you put in a claim for C.C. Sabathia, the team that placed him on waiver has no obligation to absorb any portion of his contract or work out a trade with you.  The waiver process is NOT a two-way street.  The team that placed the player on waivers can choose to walk away from the player and cancel the waiver at any time during the process, but the team that placed the claim on the player can NOT can cancel its claim.  I say this in case people forgot what happened with Conner Jackson last year.  I do NOT want to re-do this whole process and delete all the claims made to date, so please be careful folks.

Keep in mind that only players who have already cleared waivers or rookies on prospect contracs (P-n/a) can be traded for the players teams are placing current claims on.  For example, Neftali Feliz can not be traded for Shaun Marcum if Marcum has not already cleared waivers. 

We had a case last year where two teams placed claims on the other's players, and they exchanged those players for one another.  I don't believe that was technically correct, because each waiver claim should be considered a separate transaction, and I would like to avoid those kinds of trades.

Ignore my prior post since the precedent has been established and go by the following rule:

Players eligible to be traded in a waiver deal are those who were claimed by the respective teams in the waiver deal and any player on a P-n/a contract (prospect contract whose clock has not started).
