Also in a press conference held Coors field, GM Kris Davis announced his first trade as the Rockies Gm. This trade Davis said " we do lose Upton and young who has held the OF down for the team but the issues with Upton and the huge payrol for young and with the team not winning there had to be changes. In return we get the big Carlos Lee with almost all his contract getting paid for all his years. Also getting the young Mike Morse to play CI and OF for me and the young nice pitcher Drew Smyly to help out my rotation thats not living up to its hype".

First question I have is are we still following the rule where a new GM can't make trades for the first two weeks?  We have had that rule in the past but it has been a while since we have had a new owner in the league.

I see this as a horrible trade for the rockies as the return on Upton and Young is pretty low.  Upton is a young star outfielder locked up on a cost controlled contract for the next four four years.  Young is due to become an FA at the end of the year and would need to be resigned but is a good player.  The return that the rockies are getting is not nearly good enough.  Carlos lee is mostly free but is a 35 year old player on the downside of his career.  Mike morse is not young as he is in fact 30 years old and has had one solid year in the majors.  Drew Smyly is a pretty good young pitcher but this league values hitters greater then pitchers.  :veto:

We should be - especially considering how horrible this trade is.

I understand trading Young for an older player like Lee and an unproven player like Morse (give me two good seasons before I trade high value).

Veto, if allowed to trade or not.

COL did not stick to what they said in trade block.  Do we need to discuss COL GM position again after this?

Thank you guys veto the trade after looking at it. You guys are right and I should be getting alot more on Upton and yes I rate Morse high but Colby you are right I should see how he is for one more year. I will know focus and take my time on these trades instead of just pulling the trigger really fast. I just dont like this quote though

I have been waiting a long time to get in this league and Im sorry I messed up but you dont need to post that. I will be fine I just need to slow down.
