Title: Improvement of the Draft
Post by: shooter47 on September 26, 2014, 11:08:34 PM
There has been alot of comments and complaints on issues with our current Draft rules. Feel free to post any ideas on how you think the draft could be improved in the future, such as; Longer clock time, Skipping picks instead of autopicks, etc.

My suggestions would be a 12 hour clock and allow changes to auto picks if the player wanted has not been picked by another team.

Agree.  We need to at least let people get a nights sleep or work a shift and not have to worry about being skipped/auto-picked while they are trying to make a living or sleeping.

Agree especially in the early rounds. I would propose 24hrs for rd 1 then 12 after that

I would prefer a 12 hour time limit.  After 12 hours the team is skipped and can make their pick at any time.  They would be auto-drafted in the next round if they have still not made their pick.

I am in thought if you don't want to be auto draft then time runs out your pick is left blank till you make selection long as player isn't taken till that point.

If I could get some help instead of everyone bitching, things might just go a little bit smoother. Buried, can't keep up. Sorry

Two seasons ago I was in charge of rosters and did a pretty good job. This year I was removed from that position with no reason and no discussion. Sorry not gonna help with that type of thanks.

The draft should be 12 hrs per round. If you work or sleep longer than that I really feel sorry. 24 hr clock could have us a mpnth in without the first roind completed.

Teams should be set to pick next best avail if missed pick. Lets no destrpy competative advantage due to a latent gm.

I take it back, I offered to Rc. I cant sit back and watch.

Another great idea, text message updates? Would we care if the league management had our cells and could text when were up?

I feel I explained to you pretty clearly (below) why I wanted someone else to take over processing the transactions this year. Bhows has done a terrific job this year and I feel the league is in a better place with additional people that can process transactions.

Chris,

Sorry was busy with work yesterday and didn't get a chance to respond to my PMs. No I am not ignoring you, I am still looking to see if I can find a new person to do the rosters so that we have more options in case something should happen to one of us. Backups are important similar to the past where Colby, Corey, Howe, Paul and Rob were all able to do the rosters if need be. I will let you know if I need your help with the rosters this year.

An interesting interpretation of what you said to me. I read that there was no reason to change the primary, but to add backups. So i dont understand why I wasnt included, truthfully.

These are the only changes I would like as well. I do not like the idea of skipping a pick altogether as it weakens farm systems of teams with an MIA manager. Ability to change the pick later if the player they want is still available is a nice balance. And I agree 8 hours is too short... I knew my pick was coming up next last night after autopicks and was worried I'd wake up to an auto draft this morning; that would've sucked.

i think  12 hrs is good also. Ialso  like the id of text messageing i dont  care if  u text  me to let me know its my turn.i also think as long as you make your next pick is do is no problem.if u dont make you pick and  u make to your next pick i think u should lose previous pick. you have plenty of time so there  shouldnt  be any reason u cant make your pick at all.if the person doesnt make  to picks in row he should be put on auto draft

I know I'm a nobody here. Hell, I can't figure who was drafted for my team this year, but what about a private group on Facebook? Most people check Facebook a couple times a day. You'd get a notification on your phone. You just keep the same thread going. Just my two cents.
