The Giants and Blue Jays agree to the following trade:

Giants give:
Josh Bell, OF (giants 2nd round 2011 pick)
2012 -1st Round pick

Blue Jays give:
Aaron Hill, 2B
Carlos Villanueva, P
$5,000,000 of Hill's 2012 salary.

Giving up Bell was tough to do, as he was projected as best hitter in '11 draft, and would have been a sure 1st rounder except concerns about his sign ability.  Losing my first pick this year also is a hit.

However, the Giants still have a good shot at it's division title, and in the playoff, who knows what can happen. Getting Hill gives me a long-term solution at 2B, and needing a SP badly this year, Villanueva, being a rest of year rental, hopefully will fit the bill.

Thanks to the Blue Jays for a smooth negotiation.  Jays to confirm.

In the trade SF made with Wash, SF agreed to pay the 2012 salary of Barry Zito.  All players involved in the trade are with the receiving teams in the 5/25 Excel rosters, but the salary adjustment is not.

The original trade: http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=59993.0

SF takes a hit for $19 mil for 2012, and Wash receives credit for same.

Thanks,

Dick

  • dbreer23: Take two to tango, though. Most owners with adequate or surplus SP aren't interested in prospects as they're trying to win now.

  • Daddy: Also agreed. Top quality pitching probably means not much depth. A few injuries can challenge you. Pitching other than top end pitching has been devalued in fantasy. Everyone wants the stud.

  • Daddy: I here to tell you that ALL major league pitching is good pitching. A great hitter beats a terrible pitcher just 3 out of 10 times. Which means the worst pitchers > the greatest hitters.

  • Braves155: The problem with the minors is not the system as a whole, it is some Farm Systems are more 'elite' at being able to produce talent than others. If you look across MLB teams you can pretty easily tell the great systems from the weaker systems and talent development

  • Braves155: With regard to pitching in the Minors...there is  method to the madness. It is all about what you make of it tho. I agree that it can seem certain type arms in the minors are a dime a dozen
