The Ducks confirm this trade.

The Ducks had told a few other owners that they would want a D-man back if we were trading a D-man, however when the Cats came calling with this trade we couldn't pass up another 1st along with another 2nd. These 2 picks along with our numerous other picks in the first 2 rounds the Ducks are looking to rebuild.

I know we gave up a great D-man in Vatanen but by trading him we save quite a bit of salary for FA along with saving money to resign some of our other players we still have going forward.

Thanks for the quick trade Panthers and good luck with Vatanen.

The Ducks confirm this trade.

The Ducks give up a lot in a Top 5 or Top 10 caliber starting goalie such as Anderson but with his age there is no guarantee how much longer he will be playing or continue to perform as a top goalie. Therefore I wanted to trade him and his high salary now and get something in return and not wait and see how much longer he plays and get nothing back.

TJ Oshie has a new home with the Ducks not having many RW's to begin with and hopefully can continue producing points staying in Washington. Lack is probably a backup goalie unless he is given an opportunity to start depending on how him and Smith perform for the Flames. However Lack even as a backup has the ability to still put up stats. The 1st round pick adds to the other 1st rounder's we have or hopefully get (Ducks/Hurricane trade)

The Ducks and Hurricanes have come to the following agreement

The Ducks get
LW Tomas Hertl, $5.5m (2016-2020)
Round 1 - 2017

(Pending on if the other Hurricane trade goes through with the Penguins)

The Hurricanes get
C Sean Monahan, $4.9m (2016-2019)

The Ducks agree to this trade.

The Ducks needed someone of Hertl's potential since we are not well stocked on LW's. Hertl has a lot of potential to produce based on his age and hopefully staying healthy. I know we give up a lot in Monahan but I have Rakell to take over for Monahan if need be. The 1st round draft pick just adds to the other one we have to replenish our prospect pool.

Thanks for the trade Hurricanes and hope it helps us both in the long run.

I am not officially putting them on the chopping block but just seeing what other people would offer for them.

Sean Monahan, $4.9m (2016-2019) (I have an offer for him)
Wayne Simmonds, $6.1m (2014-2018)
Shea Theodore, $1.0m (2015-2018-EL)
Colton Parayko, $0.4m (2015-2017-EL) 5.7m (2017-2021)
Craig Anderson, $9.1m (2016-2021) ( I would need another G in return preferably another lesser starter or a decent back-up along with other players) (I have an offer for him)

I need help in all areas except for goalie unless I do trade Anderson.

Therefore his new contract will be for $5.7m for 4 years

With all of the protected players or players being exempted along with all of my trades during the season, the Ducks have no player to be exposed to the expansion draft.

Ducks will resign the following player for 1 additional year.

Kris Versteeg

LW 2016-2017 110th best LW
LW 2015-2016 80th best LW

RW 2016-2017 115th best RW
RW 2015-2016 92nd best RW

Therefore Versteeg new contract would be $1.1m 2016-2018.
