SP Clayton Kershaw 8m (2023)

Braves receive:
SP Cal Quantrill (P-2022)
P Patrick Weigel (P-N/A)
C Alex Jackson (P-2024)

Rays accept this deal. We moved Blake Snell yesterday to clear the cap to make this deal possible. Kershaw has shorter term which gives the Rays better flexibility.  If healthy, I believe he can be a game changer. I had depth at C to extract from and have several good young arms to replace Quantrill and Weigel.

In our 1st  on this site, it was necessary to gain some cap space and receive assets in return such as Quantrill who can hopefully be a part of the future. Kershaw at his salary and his injury history was not going to fetch a lot so it's better to strike while someone has interest.
