Title: Rule Change Proposal: Rookie Salary Scale
Post by: WestCoastExpress on April 10, 2019, 08:49:11 PM
Note:

This also affects 2nd Round Picks:

All 2nd Round Picks will be a lower cap hit, resulting in all 2nd Round Picks being able to be free drops in the future:

Picks 21-30 = $0.9m

Picks 31-40 = $0.5m

Note for Round 1 Picks:

The value will be determined later with another poll. Starting at 25% less than real-life NBA salaries up to a max. of 50% less than NBA salaries.
So at #1 overall, it's not $9.0m per season, but would be $6.8m - $4.6m (25% off to 50% off in the example from $9.0m).

Reasoning:

Gives teams with those high picks a chance to build around them in FA rather than be strapped with a rookie making a large chunk of their salary.

Also, given how FA went last season, it doesn't make a lot sense that a player like D'Angelo Russell should be making half the salary of those first few rookie picks. We're trying to even up the salaries from Rookies versus Free Agent acquisitions.

Any input is appreciated and valued. This is a poll, feel free to ask questions or voice your opinion.

We are all open to anything here, just throwing out ideas.

Cheers

Rookie Scale salaries will decrease.

New Poll created to vote on for what the percent decrease will be.
