ProFSL Dynasty Hockey:League Introduction and Set-Up:- ProFSL Dynasty Hockey was established in 2020 following the Tampa Bay Lightning winning the 2020 Stanley Cup
The aim is to create a league different from what has been on this site in the past, by:- Introducing a brand new feature - Each franchise has one Captain and three Assistant Captains, who are assigned a no-trade clause and a reduced salary capt hit
- Using a H2H 1-win scoring format
- Adding in an RFA extension period for players coming off of rookie contracts
- Using a Rookie Draft Lottery system for non-playoff teams
Salary Cap2020-2021 Salary Cap: $105 million (~ 30% above actual NHL Salary Cap - [$81.5m])Minimum player salary: $0.5m per year Maximum player salary: No max ContractsFlat SalaryThere are no variable salary contracts: Each year of a contract will have the same salary/cap hit amount Minimum SalaryAll contracts will be at least $0.5m per year, and must be in multiples of $0.1m ConferencesThere will be two conferences based on past Captains: One western based and one eastern based (as close as possible geographically, given which franchises are chosen)Henrik Sedin Conference Dougie Gilmour Conference ScoringLeague scoring will be "One Win, H2H" using an 11-CAT format Example:In week one, Team A defeats Team B 7-4. Team A's record will move to 1-0, and Team B's goes to 0-1 Scoring Categories: Skaters:G (Goals) A (Assists) PPP (PowerPlay Points) SOG (Shots on Goal) HIT (Hits) BLK (Blocked Shots) FOW (Faceoffs Won) Goalies:W (Wins) SV (Saves) SV% (Save Percentage) GAA (Goals Against Average) *Note: Goalies must have 3 games played in order to qualify for goalie stats (More below)Roster SizeMaximum NHL roster size is 32 Maximum Minor League roster size is 30 (See Minor League Roster rules for more information)Starting Lineup Roster:3 C 3 LW 3 RW 6 D 3 Flex (Any Skaters) 2 G Plus 12 Bench Slots to make up your 32-man Active Roster Minimum Active RosterAll teams must have a minimum of 20 active starting roster players, who are slotted in (starting) at their eligible starting position (Each position listed above must have an eligible player in it) Example:Each team has to have eligible players in the following slots: 3C, 3LW, 3RW, 6D, 2G plus 3 other skaters in the FLEX slots. Eligible NHL Roster Players:Any player on your 32-man NHL Roster, whether slotted in a starting position or on a BN slot, MUST be in the NHL on an NHL team's active 23-man roster Setting Line-Ups:It is expected that you start active players who are playing on each night of NHL games (ie. Not putting players from your BN into your active lineup who are not playing that night, in place of players who are playing that night) If you forget to set your lineups for a day or two, that is an honest mistake and you will already be penalized by not accumulating stats for those 1 or 2 days of games However, if you are repeatedly seen not setting lineups, you will first receive a warning (see penalties below), and in this case your lineup will be re-set by a mod to have the highest producing players each night in the active slots This is to reduce losing on purpose, to gain a higher draft pick (ie. Actively tanking) Failure to abide by either or both of the above NHL Roster and Setting Lineup rules will result in the following penalties:1st Offence: Warning to make team legal 2nd Offence: Loss of highest available 1st Round Draft Pick 3rd Offense: Loss of next available 1st Round Draft Pick, plus highest available 2nd and 3rd Round Draft Picks 4th Offense: Removal from league *For the following roster rules: Minor League Roster Injured Reserve (IR) and Long-Term Injury Reserve (LTIR) COVID Opt-Outs See: http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=371704.0Regular Season League Scheduling:Each team will have two weekly match-ups During the last 6 weeks, match-ups will be in-conference opponents only (to intensify playoff positioning battles) Playoffs10 out of 16 teams will make the playoffs:- The top-3 seeds in each conference - 4 Wild-Card spots, which are the 4 next best teams regardless of conference - The top-3 seeds in each Conference will be rewarded with a 1st Round BYE The Playoffs last a total of 5 weeks (including the 2-week Finals)Round 1 Matchups - WildCard Round:1st, 2nd, 3rd Sedin Conference - Bye / 1st, 2nd, 3rd Gilmour Conference - Bye WC 1 vs WC 4 WC 2 vs WC 3 Round 2: Highest seeds play lowest seeds in bracketsExample:1st Sedin vs. WC 2 / 1st Gilmour vs. WC 1 2nd Sedin vs. 3rd Sedin / 2nd Gilmour vs. 3rd Gilmour Round 3: Conference FinalsExample:1st Sedin vs. 2nd Sedin / 1st Gilmour vs. 2nd Gilmour Round 4: Finals (2-Week Match-up)ie. 1st Sedin vs 1st Gilmour

Team Captains:
To add an extra feature to PDH, we are introducing Team Captains to every team, similar to how each NHL team can have one Captain and three Assistant Captains during game play.
Each franchise will be able to name: - 1 Captain [C] - 3 Assistant Captains [A]
* Goalies are NOT eligible to be named team captains - All 4 captains will have a no-trade clause [NTC], and be non-trade-able while they are a captain - Captains are not able to be bought out, or waived and sent to the minors - Team Captains do not necessarily have to be a captain on their real-life team
These Captains will get a slight reduction in salary cap hit, as follows: Captain: 20% less cap hit
Assistant Captains: 15% less cap hit each
These reductions apply for all of: - Players' existing contracts on start-up of the league - Re-signing your own FA - Matching the final winning RFA bid on your own player - Upon the final winning FA bid (*If player is on your real-life franchise name. See below for more)
A Team Captain MUST be on your team name franchise in real life Examples: (as of Oct. 2020) (1) The Toronto Maple Leafs franchise could name: Tavares, Marner, Matthews, etc. as they are all on the Toronto Maple Leafs in real life. But not McDavid, Crosby or Ovechkin who are not on the Maple Leafs in real life, or Fredrick Anderson who is a goalie. (2) The Tampa Bay Lightning franchise could name: Stamkos, Kucherov, Hedman, etc., but not Andrei Vasilevskiy who is a goalie, or Pastrnak, Seguin, Kopitar as none are on the Lightning in real life
Team Captain Duration: - Team Captains must remain captains for a period of 2 years - Every 2 years, teams can re-assign their captains if they choose. The player's full salary would be re-instated if he no longer is a captain
Captains will be named upon start-up of the league in the 2020 off-season (For the 2020-2021 season)
In the off-season of 2022, teams will be able to re-choose their captains or keep the same ones. The "Captain Naming Off-Seasons" will be as follows: 2020 - League start-up; Captains remain in place for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 seasons 2022 - Captains remain in place for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons 2024 - Captains remain in place for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 seasons 2026 - Captains remain in place for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 seasons
If a Team Captain is Traded or Leaves in FA in Real Life:
Free Agency: - If any of your captains leaves your real life franchise in free agency, you must immediately choose a new captain. Your new captain will get the cap reduction, while your former captain will revert back to full salary cap hit (This immediate action is because real-life FA happens in the off-season and not during a season)
Traded: - If any of your captains is traded in real life, he will no longer be eligible to be a team captain for your franchise However: - The player may remain a team captain for the remainder of that season, as a real-life trade is an unforeseen circumstance that we cannot plan for in this league - You must choose a new team captain in the off-season, and the traded captain will revert back to original/full cap hit - You can, if you choose, re-name your captain mid-season if a trade occurs (if you have the cap to make it work)
In both cases, no matter when you have to re-name a new captain, they will be able to be replaced in the "captain naming off-season:" Example: Your team captain gets traded in real life during the 2020-2021 season You then name a new captain that off-season - he will be your captain for the 2021-2022 season The off-season of 2022 is when all teams review their captains and can make changes if they choose; Your new captain also falls under this even though he will have only been captain for one season. You can replace him at this time, or keep him as your captain
Note: Team Captains do not necessarily have to be the "best" players on your team or highest scoring players. Given that it is a 2-year window the player must remain a captain, some strategy will go into choosing your captains to maximize the cap reduction - but also understand that you will not be able to trade these players for 2 years. So, while you might want to name a player a captain based solely on his cap hit even if he may not be a highly productive fantasy player, keep in mind that he would not be able to be traded, bought out, or sent to the minors for the duration of his captaincy.

Minor League Roster Players:Eligibility:Only players with 30 games or fewer can be held on your minor league roster entering a new season Once a player hits 31 games played during the season, he may remain on your Minor League Roster until the end of the season However, if you elect to call him up to your NHL Roster he wouldn't be eligible to be sent back down to the minors for free as he would have over 30 games played. He would have to be subjected to waivers like any other player * For more information on waived players, see: https://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=371703.0Audits will be done to look for players over 30 games played on minor league rosters when the off-season begins, and a list will be posted for all GM's to see and make according roster moves Players on minor league (rookie) contracts who are not in the NHL in real life, are not allowed to be held on your active NHL roster*With an extensive minor league roster, prospects can be held there until they hit 30 games played * There will be 4 NHL roster spots allowed to be used where players who normally would fall under the above designation are allowed (over 30 NHL games played but not on an NHL roster). However:To qualify, the player must: - Be drafted by an NHL team - Be playing professional hockey elsewhere (AHL, ECHL, KHL, SHL, Liiga, DEL, Exttraliga, etc.) And, - You must still dress a full 20-player active roster of players in the NHL (Essentially these spots can be used to house players who are in and out of the NHL over the course of their entry level contracts of 3 years, but who still show great promise of being a prominent NHL player. But NOT an extension of the minor league roster, as junior or NCAA players would not qualify for these spots)Rookie Contracts:Players eligible for the minors will have contracts look like: LW Alexis Lafrenière, $0.9m (R) C Quinton Byfield, $0.9m (R) D Jamie Drysdale, $0.9m (R) Once a rookie player hits 31 games played, their contract is in effect for the rest of that season, plus 2 following seasons. Example:LW Alexis Lafrenière, $0.9m (R) plays his 31st game during the 2020-2021 season His rookie contract will expire after the 2022-2023 season His contract becomes: LW Alexis Lafrenière, $0.9m (2022-2023)[RFA] Injury Reserve (IR):Make a post on the ProFSL Transactions board stating you are moving a player to the IR You may place as many qualified players on the IR as you would like A qualified player must:- Be injured, suspended, or away from the team for personal matters - Usually the player will have a red flag or red cross symbol on Fantrax if injured, or yellow or blue flag if suspended/away from the team - Mods may have to move the player manually depending on the status of the player (reason for making a post on ProFSL) - IR players' salary cap hit does count against your team's cap space - IR players do not count against your team's roster limit Long-Term Injury Reserve (LTIR):Make a post on the ProFSL Transactions board stating you are moving a player to the LTIR Teams have three (3) LTIR spots for players eligible for the LTIR list To be Eligible for LTIR:- Player must be expected to be out for 10 games, or 24 calendar days from the date of injury Player must remain on LTIR for this duration. 10 games or 24 days from the time you put him on LTIR. There will be a thread to keep track of this, stating when he is eligible to be re-activated. - LTIR players do not count against your team's roster limit - LTIR players' salary cap hit does* count against your team's cap space... * However, you are able to sign FA's up to the equivalent of the injured player's cap hit Example:- Player XYZ is placed on LTIR with a broken ankle and has a cap hit of $5.0m - You may sign a FA to 'replace' that player, but the cap hit cannot exceed $5.0m per year (regular FA rules apply for bidding) - You may sign more than one 'replacement' player if you have the roster space, but their combined cap hits cannot exceed the LTIR player's cap hit -Once your LTIR player is activated, your team must become cap and roster compliant by dropping players to: Get at or under cap, and at or under the 32-player roster limit. A payer who is signed as LTIR replacement is eligible to be dropped for free should GM not want to convert to full contract. Regular buyout and all other rules apply to non replacement players **Note: This does not mean you would gain an extra $5.0m in cap to use for buy-outs, etc. This $5.0m would only be used for signing FA's to 'replace' your LTIR player if your team would otherwise go over cap to sign 'replacement' players COVID-19 Opt-Out Players:Players who elect to opt-out due to COVID-19 concerns will follow similar rules as the LTIR As long as they are away from the team: COVID opt-out players' salary cap hit does* count against your team's cap space... * However, you are able to sign FA's up to the equivalent of the player's cap hit, following same rules as LTIR for 'replacement' players
