Title: 2020 Stanley Cup Predictions?
Post by: 99WildThing on August 03, 2020, 07:34:09 PM
Before the qualification round started I would've gone all in on Boston.

After 3 days, I feel the Flyers are hungry.

3 weeks before the c19 stoppage I really liked how Carolina was jelling especially with Geekie up. I still feel the same. They are up 2-0 against the Rangers

I like the Bolts. They have the guns and everyone’s rested.

Bs lost Rask so that's not great news for Boston's chances. On the bright side, Montreal still sucks.

After the 1st two games, Canes looking strong. I'd also like to see Minnesota's next game before giving them a big thumbs up. Not sure Stalock was the real deal last game or just ahead of the curve shaking off the rust from the COVID-19 layoff relative to the Canucks.

I personally like Vegas for lots of reasons including Goaltending, coaching and scary Top 6. :LV: could go deep though how deep remains to be seen.

Yeah, they have a bright future with their top line average age under 23. I forgot how active they were at the deadline. If Hamilton comes back, they will be a tough out. The D is playing great even without him. The only question is the goalie. The forward depth is as good as it gets in the league.

Right about now I’m liking the Flyers a lot.

They were solid during Round Robin play. Impressive pose by Hart in net and he could take them all the way.

:iatp:

Flyers are looking good as the playoffs get ready to start. They have Montreal in Rd1 and that should be a no brainer unless Julien has figured out Philly's game plan and shuts them down early.

I like Boston. They have Rask back and Bergy scored the winner yesterday. They are only getting started.

There have been more than a few muggings in these playoffs and it's barely off the ground. What's with the officiating? Anyone else notice the lack of calls on some obvious plays like the Cam Atkinson breakaway in the 4th OT against the Bolts and Hedman's holding him down by the back of Atkinson's pants!?!?!?! WTF. What was that non call?

:iatp: The refs also had the same extended layoff for 4.5 months so they're going to show plenty of rust. I think the NHL has also given refs a memo to let teams play it out on the ice and limit the number of calls to ensure games move along. Old time hockey except there's way more speed involved.

Anyone see the Habs crush the Flyers. Hey where's PPG?
Epic a$$ on platter served up by Montreal this afternoon. Pretty shocking game.

I have to say the Canucks are a surprise against the defending champion Blues. Hovart's been scoring some incredible goals for Vancouver.

PPG, thoughts on that nasty Niskanen cross check to the jaw of Gallagher? Broken jaw = 0 penalty.

Personally, shocked the 2 refs Chris Lee and Kyle Rehman blew the call on that injury causing play while calling a BS 5 minute major & game misconduct on the Habs best player in the series, Kotkaniemi.

Chris Lee and Kyle Rehman blew the Niskanen broken jaw cross-check. Oh, then the duo failed to call Sean Couturier for blindsiding Has player after an empty net goal.

Terrible that Chris Lee and Kyle Rehman are ref'ing in the Stanley Cup playoffs. NHL should review these 2.

2 blown calls that could cost a franchise revenue.

Can we start a "Fire Chris Lee and Kyle Rehman" campaign somewhere? That's gross incompetence.

"Fire Chris Lee and Kyle Rehman" campaign :iatp:

As bad refereeing goes, that was bad. Even blood didn't provide sufficient proof of the stick infraction.
Certainly not NHL caliber refereeing.

I hate the Habs but I'm with you guys on this. No place in the NHL for bad refereeing in the playoffs.

Amateur hour by Chris Lee and Kyle Rehman.

Also, Alain Vigneault's cheap shot comments about Gallagher being short leading to the cross check on the face was down right class-less. I've lost all respect for Vigneault. This should be the beginning of the end for him in Philly.

I think it's clear the Flyers HC just wants to get under the skin of the Canadiens. The problem is he is lighting a big fire under Montreal and we'll see how that works for him tonight in Gm6.

How about the Dallas Stars knocking off the Tkachuk-less Flames!

And now last year's champs are out. Ducks eliminated the Blues last night. Binnington was not strong this year at all.

Canucks had a convincing Round 1 win vs the Blues.

Dallas is currently up on the Ave after 1 period but I think Colorado is poised to go deep. Will see.

Islanders have made a strong statement with a 4-0 shutout in their first game against the Flyers.

Can PPG provide a post game comment? ;-)

I'll admit, Montreal got a raw deal in Rd1. LOL Not that I care LOL

But tough break for old man Price who's only got a few more chances to claim a Cup before hanging 'em up.

Flyers in tough against Isles. Trotz doesn’t give an inch and Philly has had a difficult time scoring since the Round Robin. Though Hart is looking like a young Price for the Flyers.

Boston has been strong thus far. Their Perfection Line has been rolling.

Canes should've moved on but didn't. That was a huge surprise for me.

I am amazed to see last year's finalist and champion are out of this year's playoffs.

The Boston Bruins losing to Tampa Bay after the former upset them last year is not as much a surprise given their lack of T.Rask. While the lost off of the St Louis Blues from this year's playoffs cannot be a huge shock, however being that they are in fact the defending Stanley Cup Champions makes it a surprise nonetheless.

Those Flyers and Canucks just won't go down. Wondering if they'll be able to do what Colorado did? And can the Avs finish the job by coming back all the way?

Looking for Philly to get bounced tonight. It’s looking good so far.
Feeling lots of hockey disdain for that Flyer Head Coach since the Habs Flyers series in rd1.

Personally felt Flyers and Vegas would be in the finals after the playoffs got underway.

You'll get over it Jack Daniels. My Leafs and Jets did a firm face plate in this year's playoffs. In fact the Leafs didn't even qualify for the post season dance this year. What a waste. In Winnipeg they're now talking about Laine being available. What's going on?!!

I honestly never would've called for a Stanley Cup Finals that included the Dallas Stars.

Rick Bowness? Wow. I was a kid when he was named the HC for the Sens back in the early 90s. Ottawa turned in a record of 10W - 70L - 4T in the Adams Div. 4 brutal years of coaching.

30 years later, he's taken his team to the Finals. Insane how time flies and to see people evolve. Good for Rick!

Agree. But you have to imagine with a roster like Tampa's, they'll be putting up a bigger fight here on out. In Game 1, Lightning looked shocked Dallas came to play and seemed to rollover, like the other bunny in those Energizer battery commercials.

They're already talking Anton Khudobin for the CONN SMYTHE. I'm thinking that's flat out a no brainer.

For me, the unsung hero for Dallas has been Corey Perry. He has completely thrown opponents off their game since the playoff started. It'll be 13yrs since his last Cup with the Ducks in 2007.

I'd like to see Tampa pull it off and hoist the Cup. But to do it without Stamkos. What's that tell you about the value of their captain. He might make good trade bait during the upcoming off season.

Seems like almost a sure thing for the Bolts after Game 4. Tampa Bay leading 3-1 in the Finals. It'll be a great victory if/when it happens for the Bolts and Julien Brisebois. Coleman and Goodrow trades looking amazing now considering all the 1st rounders Brisebois dealt away. Steve Yzerman will deserve a cake shaped like a Stanley Cup ring at the very least. And for Pat Maroon, it will be real sweet after the way St. Louis cut bait with him and the Lightning were lucky or smart enough t sign him for 900K. Best 900K any team can spend. :win::TBL::win:
