:HOU: Houston beat :PHI: Philadelphia in the NLWC
:BOS: Boston upset :TEX: Texas in the ALWC
:OAK: Oakland vs. :BOS: Boston
:NYY: New York vs. :CLE: Cleveland
:LAD: Los Angeles vs. :HOU: Houston
:STL: St. Louis vs. :WAS: Washington
The stories... Rangers and Phillies falling late season. While they easily make wildcard, they lose to opponents to fail to advance. A's, Yankees, and Dodgers highlight dominant teams of FGM history. Cleveland finally gets to show what it is made of in the AL. Boston is back in the playoffs. Houston and St. Louis, both FGM NL Central strongholds are back in the playoffs are making it once in the past three years. Washington makes the playoffs for the first time ever (for this iteration of the Nationals).

I really think I have a bit more 'star power' than Paul's Cardinals do, but his team is the mark of consistency. Should be a great matchup, and it doesn't hurt I have three hurlers going tonight. :koolaid:
-
It should be a great series Jake. Maybe the Cardinals got their bad week out of the way before the playoffs this year.
-
The Rangers are obviously disappointed for being eliminated from contention this year, but hopefully our salary cap will increase substantially in 2014 after a 120-40 season.
-
My predictions for the first round:
Oakland over Boston
Cleveland over New York Yankees
Los Angeles Dodgers over Houston
St. Louis over Washington
Betting against myself, that way I can be surprised if I advance. :o
Good luck guys!

Mine tooooooo! :bacon:

That reminds me that I have to do the W-L adjustments for you to make them more realistic. I am pretty sure that will translate to a 100 win season.

Is an adjustment needed considering most teams' W-L reflects a 160-game schedule?

Well 1-1 will be added but the WPCT will be brought closer to the 400-600 corridor.
-
Sad to say but with Jose and CC hurt and then the cheater Melky. My team lets just say isnt the same. Maybe i can sneak by CC and Jose will be back in a week. Fingers crossed! lol
-
Yanks better get their rings this year, the Rays are planning on making some LOUD noise in 2013
-
My predictions...
:OAK: Oakland vs. :CLE: Cleveland
:LAD: Los Angeles vs. :STL: St. Louis
Will the Dodgers make it to a third straight World Series for their attempt to three-peat? Can the Cardinals make their first World Series since 2006. Oakland and Cleveland, both small-market teams haven't been to the WS since 1990 and 1997, respectively.

Oakland in real life hasn't had Posey, Teixeira, Cano, and McCutchen.

Paul, I think you and I have combined for the most pathetic pitching week all season long. :o My arms are definitely not my strong suit.

Yes, it is bad when the bullpen outscores the starters.

Yes, it is bad when the bullpen outscores the starters.
That was the model of the FGM Pirates last year. It works till a point!
-
My $140M offense with 10 top 100 players: 541 points
Adrian Beltre + Y Molina: 718 points
That is all.
-
Red Sox and Clevland have got to be displaying worst offensive output in playoff history. Can put a fork in our teams we have no chance in 2 days to overcome that big a deficit
-
What are we thinking?
Oakland vs New York
Houston vs Washington
-
Still too close to call between myself and Paul IMO. I was having 5 starters go today and tomorrow, but with Beckett being traded, who knows if he pitches this weekend.
One good offensive day between either of us could seal it.
-
I can't decide whether I'm more impressed by four Yankee's hitters with 200+ pts. this week or the Indians laying a turd and hitting in the red.
Holding around a 400 pt. lead on Paul going into tomorrow with 3 hurlers throwing. Paul has two hurlers, and I'm sure he'll be throwing his best hitters out there with his deep bench.
Should be a tight final day, in the NL at least.
-
Congrats Jake! Our pitching didn't show up this week and not much offense either.
-

My pitching was abysmal also. Gavin Floyd had two starts and pitched 4 total innings. :o
Had a big week from David Murphy, I think he's my new ringer.
-
I always wondered why other teams are not killing :HOU: week in and week out. Now I know why. Good job to :HOU: and I am glad you are going to be in the AL next year.
-
Houston or Washington as the NL Champ? What a year!

Still :LAD: vs :WAS: in the NL, but :HOU: was leading after Saturday and gave me quite the scare.

Gotcha... one week away from the Dodgers' attempt at a three-peat. I can't access FGM Fantrax this morning.
-
Congrats Dodgers, your team was relentless and the Stros just couldn't keep up over the weekend, good luck in the championship series..
-
Fantrax is down right now...first game is at 1PM EST. I have my lineups set but I know NYY does not. Should we be allowed to retroactive adjust our lineups for today if the issue is not fixed soon?
-
Should post or PM lineups before gametime to avoid controversy, and then commish could retro actively set as needed.

:iatp:
Fantrax appears to be back up and running though. I am rooting for Oakland and Washington. We need some fresh, small cap blood in the World Series.
-
As the proud owner and GM of :NYY: we are thrilled to be back in the ALCS. Its not often the Yanks are the underdogs but we are for sure against :OAK: . GL to MT this week should be a great matchup. Maybe ill get another crazy week where we lead the league in scoring.....fingers crossed

Word.
-
My hitters go 1 for 19 to start the week. Off to a great start. :puke:
-
Trust me Jake I totally understand!
-
:LAD:, :NYY: :WAS: combining for 170 points of offence.

GL to you OU as well, nice matchup so far.
-
Oakland to the World Series - let's go Rob!
-
Howe and I are really laying a turd this week. Howe, whoever wins is limping into the World Series I'm afraid.
On a bright note, my pitching is much better this week than last.
-
This is going to be ugly, my batters tonight are schedule to face:
Hallday *2
Gio Gonzalez
RA Dickey
Brandon McCarthy
Dan Haren

Woof!
-
My best OF, Holliday is up against Gio/Zimmerman/Strasburg this weekend.
My 2nd best OF, Heyward is up against Halladay/Lee/Hamels this weekend.
My best MI, Uggla is also up against Halladay/Lee/Hamels this weekend.
I have my excuses all lined up now if I lose!
-
I think my lack of SP depth is gonna do me in. 5 hurt SP's at this time is no good.
I'll be lucky to reach 60 innings this week.
-
Good work Jake, you made a really interesting. Definitely got my vote as the GM of the year. I am now up against :OAK: who should be the heavy favourite in this matchup. Since middle of May, :OAK: has 102 wins and 1 loss.
-
It is tough not to favor the Dodgers here in their quest for a three-peat.
-
Congrats guys, injuries caugh up with :NYY: we would like to announce SOMETHING'S WILL CHANGE, we in :NYY: are not happy with 2 straight ALCS losses.
-
Can someone please confirm that for the Championship game, it will two weeks, with pitching limit set to 130 innings? If so, how do we implement this in fantrax? Right now in Fantrax, it is set to weekly matchup with 65 IP limit
-
I believe that we all agreed to keep it the same as last year, so I think you are correct.
-
Cant we just run two one week periods and add the scores for each period together to determine the world series winner?
-

It's an issue if a team has 50IP in the first week then 70IP in the second week.
-
Oakland has the early lead.
-
Oakland has regained the lead:
Oakland 1530
Los Angeles 1412
This one looks like it will go down the the last day. Good luck to both of you!
-
C'mon Rob, represent the small market teams and win this thing!
-
I am clearly the underdog in this match up. I am forced to play Uggla/Hanley/Ackley/Adonz almost every day and :OAK: has only lost 1 game in 4 months.
-

Perhaps but you have history on your side winning the past two World Series (one by you and one by M.J. for :LAD:).
-
:OAK: I think is also undefeated against me in the past 2 years. If you like cheering for underdogs, cheer for me.

Nothing against you Howe; I am just cheering for small market teams.

There are many owners that would love to have that problem! Also, I have a hard time seeing a team as talented as yours with a 130M+ cap being the underdog in any match-up. LOL
-
I will be taking cap space donations for an above replacement MI. Every dollar counts. If you want to see the underdog triumph, please donate.
-
Unless there are objections, I will be changing the innning limit in fantrax to 90. Both :OAK: and :LAD: were under the inning limit during the first week of the matchup.

We can manually adjust as needed.

Why? The IP limit should be 65.
-
Why? The IP limit should be 65.
Because for two weeks it would be 130.
-
Because for two weeks it would be 130.
130 would be fine if the match-up was set for 2 weeks in Fantrax, but it is not. So back to my original question. Why do we have to do anything? The 65 IP limit is appropriate for the current week's match-up.
-
As discussed in the other thread, we are treating the championship game as 2 weeks matchup. Because I dont know how to set a two week matchup in Fantrax, we will have to manually add the scores together from the two single week games.
-
Congrats Rob, job well done, you thoroughly deprave to be the champ. With both of our cores signed through 2013, I look forward to meeting you again in the finals next year.
-
What was the final score?
-
:OAK: 3312, :LAD: 2870, with McCutheon scoring 475 points and Posey scoring 425.
-
Rob,
Congrats on being the new champ! You had a great season and an incredible run after a rough start to the season that seems like a distant memory now. Your team is the model for small market teams and proof that you don't need a huge payroll to produce huge results.
Roy

Thanks everyone, great matchup Howe. It feels good winning a league like this, with so many good managers. Looking forward to competing again in 2013.
-
Great job to both of you, and congrats Rob very well deserved!
