SP Ruiz, Norge, $2m (2019)
C Stubbs, Garrett, $0.5m (P-n/a)
OF Quinn, Heath, $0.5m (P-n/a)

I took the risk in trading for Tanaka earlier in the year and it didn't really pan out for me. He's still putting up decent fantasy numbers, but nothing that will help my team. He still has ace potential, but I think I have a better chance of one of these prospects hitting. Clearing out some cap next year too doesn't hurt.

That "explosion" you just heard is my head blowing up after agreeing to trade away OF Heath Quinn, a Giants prospect :'( . but with MadBum returning from his injury, getting Tanaka will improve my rotation immensely.

Trading prospects for proven players is a bit of a crap shoot for both teams, but sometimes we have to take our chances if we want a chance to succeed. The Giants are in the midst of a Wild Card race, so getting a productive veteran for the stretch run will be a big help.  With that, the Twins are getting three prospects that should help their rebuilding process.  This trade gives both teams something they want.

Assuming the trade is approved, the Giants will post several transactions to come up with the necessary 2018 cap to cover Tanaka's 2018 salary BEFORE the trade is processed.
