Title: RC Vote - Internal Transfer Special Cases (RC Members Only Please)
Post by: shooter47 on October 09, 2013, 07:55:10 PM
Option #2 won the previous vote by the RC. Internal Transfers will be allowed in special cases. Option #2 is listed below:

2) Allow Internal Transfers but only during special cases. (At this point in time I am not going to say what special cases will be allowed. If this option is chosen by the RC then at that time the RC will vote on special cases that will allow an internal transfer to happen).

The RC will now vote on what special cases will allow a GM to transfer to a new franchise.

#1. For the betterment of the league - This option would allow a GM to transfer to a new franchise if a franchise can not be filled by an external candidate and the team is sitting vacant.

#2. Favorite Team - This would allow a GM to transfer to a new franchise if said franchise is their favorite team.

These are the special cases that I have come up with. RC members should feel free to suggest other special cases that they think should be considered. all RC members should vote yes or no to every option. An option needs 5 Yes votes to pass and be considered a special case to allow internal transfers. If no special case receives the 5 required votes then internal transfers will not be allowed.

If possible I'd like to vote for option 1 and 2.  I think they are both good reasons to transfer.  Option 1 is obvious why it is a good choice but I also believe option 2 helps with retention.  I was able to transfer over to take the Phillies a few seasons ago and I can tell you that I know how lucky I was to get them and I don't see me giving them up any time soon.  I also think if we don't allow people to take their favorite teams (when they become available) that they won't be interested in signing up for the league and taking a team that they don't really want.  I understand the team is pretty much the logo but I think its more than that.  If I had to choose just one option I'd go option 2.

RC Members should vote yet or no for both option #1 and #2. You can vote yes for both, no for both or yes for one and no for one.

I am in favor of both option 1 and 2, so long as all moves be "backwards" in nature. By that I mean that a GM may only switch teams if the new team is in a demonstrably worse condition than the current team. I feel that allowing "forward" movement only exacerbates the musical chair situation. A prospective new GM should be forced to really weigh their options before throwing their hat into the mix for a team, deciding whether or not to sit tight and wait for their favorite team or take the guaranteed opportunity and run with it. We must ensure that the focus and efforts of all GMs be on making their current team as strong as possible for the long term, not just going through the motions until a contender or fav team opens up. The name-recognition and history of this league affords us the unique opportunity to really vet all new GM candidates as well as all internal transfer cases. I can't see where finding a quality candidate to fill even the most moribund team will be too difficult.

That being said, I vote in favor of both options 1 & 2, provided the stipulations carry with them some form/combo of the above mentioned parameters.

If option # 2 receives the requisite votes which I hope it does not, every owner in the league should submit their favorite team in a separate thread on the main page for the record.

I say yes to both, but I still think something needs to be said about how many times an owner can switch.

Since I voted against internal transfers when previously presented, I think it's only appropriate for me to vote against both Option #1 and #2 in this second go round.  All of us have witnessed the bad feelings that have been generated by the approval and denial of past transfers, and I think our league is better served by by putting an end to them.  The subjective nature of Option #1 has yet to be clearly defined by any of its proponents.  There are yes votes with stipulations, yet nothing concrete is really presented.

Is "for the bettement of the league" like MLB's "In the best interests of baseball", and therefore simply left to the interpretation of whomever is the Commissioner?  Or the reigning members of the Rules Committee?  Just seems too ambiguous for me.

First and foremost I need to withdraw my vote for Option #1 " Allow Transfers in Special Cases". I can't, with a clear conscience, have an opinion on something I don't agree with.
I got back into this league at the expense of an owner that essentially was told that no internal transfers would be allowed. A few months later we trying to find reasons to allow them?
Sorry, can't do it. I really need to abstain

Yes from me for #1.  Don't feel strongly on #2, but I'll vote no.

I vote YES on Options #1 and #2.  I'll use papps' reasoning behind #2 as my commentary.

The current vote is:

Option #1 - 7 Yes Votes (:TEX: Rcankosy, :BAL: Shooter47, :TB: Volsraysbucs, :PHI: Papps, :KC: Kungfuwig, :MIL: BrewersGM, :PIT: Profsl)
2 No Votes  (:LAD: Bhows, :SF: Flash)

Option #2 - 4 Yes Votes (:TB: Volsraysbucs, :PHI: Papps, :PIT: Profsl, :KC: Kungfuwig)
5 No Votes  (:TEX: Rcankosy, :BAL: Shooter47, :LAD: Bhows, :SF: Flash, :MIL: BrewersGM)

Option #1 has received the 5 votes needed to pass. Internal transfers will be allowed for the betterment of the league. The RC will now vote on requirements/qualifications of this special case. Option #2 received 4 Yes votes and 5 no Votes. Internal transfers will not be allowed for the special case of someone wanting to move to their favorite team.
