About ProFSL
ProFSL is a community of fantasy sports leagues and discussion forums focused on more unique, community-feel leagues where drop-out owners are immediately replaced. These leagues are more active than what you normally play in. Each sport (baseball, football, basketball, and hockey) has its set of leagues that people have started at OR brought to ProFSL. At the conclusion of each sport's season is the free-entry, Invitational tournament which represents the ProFSL fantasy championship for that sport. These tournaments are free to enter and are based on a posted rankings system taking records from all of the leagues at ProFSL and inviting the best managers. ProFSL league champions receive automatic bids whereas others compete in the rankings for the at-large bids. Generally, both the winner and the final four of each Invitational are paid out cash prizes. Also, each sport has its own general discussion and fan forums. The fan forums are led by a single fan forum leader who leads and moderates the discussion. Each month, a fan forum in each sport is picked as a winner for having the best quality discussion, diversification of topics, member participation, and growth from the previous month. The fan forum leaders with the most months won during the year receive an automatic bid to their sport's Invitational. History of ProFSL Pro Fantasy Sports Leagues (ProFSL) was known as Major League Fantasy Baseball (MLFB) until enough interest in the community moved over to other sports in 2010. The community first had its roots start in 2007 with the Harold Reynolds Invitational (HRI). This was designed to be a second half fantasy baseball league whose participants had teams in great standing in several other leagues. The event failed to continue into 2008 but a couple people involved, including the founder, decided to create a community for these leagues late that year. Much of the initial discussion was on how one of the key leagues (Donruss Mexpo) would evolve. As the Mexpo became more advanced in 2009, a new franchise league (Franchise GM) started in the summer of 2009. The union of the Mexpo with the new, advanced, 30-team franchise league along with a few other associated leagues spawned the MLFB Invitational. Similar to the HRI two years before, this was a 4-week H2H tournament of the best managers at the end of the season. The following off-season was a major boom period. A couple leagues (Miller Time, Dynasty MLB Elite) joined the community and many more started the inaugural seasons at MLFB. This created the current state of the community where a formal points system could be used to determine who was eligible for the Baseball Invitational - the free entry, cash payout tournament that determines the baseball champion here . As the 2010 NFL season neared, several advanced football leagues started with a lot of popularity. This soon spread to NBA and NHL and the name of MLFB just didn't make sense anymore. In the summer of 2010, MLFB became ProFSL - Pro Fantasy Sports League. The idea of the baseball Invitational spread to the other sports as well. If you are interested in participating in an Invitational then you will need to participate in ProFSL's leagues for that sport. A ProFSL league championship will guarantee you an automatic bid whereas general good standing among some leagues may garner enough points. ProFSL also holds major tournaments early in each sport's season. For example, the MLB majors include the Baseball Invitational as a series of four premier fantasy baseball tournaments. Winning any of these tournaments will earn you an automatic bid to the next Invitational. ProFSL NetworkPages: [1]
